Hogwarts-themed LEGO is always a pleasure to play with, especially if the set is personalized. The LEGO student’s trunk is filled with awesome elements to play with and the best part is that players can actually customize their own LEGO minifigure character, the color of the trunk based on the Hogwarts House they are in (red, blue, yellow, and green), and the contents of the trunk as to what Hogwarts classroom they want to play at.
LEGO Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets
Set with most minifigures
- NEW set (20th anniversary edition)

The giant Basilisk is terrifying the village (which is really a village of minifigures here!) and the door to the Chamber of Secrets is waiting for you to speak Parseltongue to it (the general rule of thumb being - if Ron can do it, you can do it).
Since we’re almost finished with book/movie 2, let’s see the best way to combine your Chamber of Secrets LEGO - you can get this set as well as the other new LEGO Harry Potter set - the Polyjuice Potion Mistake. And of course, nothing would be complete without the Whomping Willow and the flying Ford Anglia. Accio LEGO sets!
LEGO Hogwarts Moment: Divination Class
Best portable set
- New LEGO set 2022
- Affordable
- Portable LEGO set
- Collectable (part of a set) but also great as a standalone set

Enter the Divination class of the “renowned” seer Professor Trelawney and “broaden your minds”. This LEGO set was released in March 2022 (same as the LEGO Hogwarts Moments: Defense Class) and it’s such a great addition to the LEGO Hogwarts Moments collection. The LEGO minifigure of the professor is quite rare and if you’re a collector - this set is the perfect opportunity for you to add another jewel to your collection.
The Divination book features vibrant colors, three Harry Potter LEGO minifigures (Professor Trelawney, Harry, and Parvati Patil), and a myriad of accessories for role-playing. This new LEGO set 2022 would make the perfect gift for the Harry Potter fan in your life and it’s perfect for kids (8+). The set is easy to assemble and they can start playing in a flash.
In case you need a quick refresher, Harry’s Divination classes started in year three (Prisoner of Azkaban) when Professor Sybill Trelawney quickly managed to foresee his death during Harry’s very first Divination class. The Divination classroom is located in the Hogwarts North Tower and is accessible through a trapdoor and well, classes were definitely not what students expected.

It was released in March 2022 (same as the LEGO Hogwarts Moments: Divination Class) and it’s such a great addition to the LEGO Hogwarts Moments collection.
Join Professor Mad-Eye Moody in his breathtaking spell-casting class. Harry had enough on his mind in the Goblet of Fire (book/movie four) and on top of that - he got one of the most important classes of his stay at Hogwarts - Defence Against the Dark Arts. He got to learn the three Unforgivable curses and become acquainted with a Death Eater disguised as the famous Auror Moody. And simultaneously, to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. No biggie!
Now, the LEGO set features the awesome black LEGO Divination book (the color seems very appropriate for the subject), three Harry Potter minifigures (Professor Moody, Neville, and Hermione), and a myriad of accessories perfect for role-playing. It’s a playset that develops the construction skills as well as the emotional intelligence of young witches or wizards. And of course, the iconic minifigure of Professor Moody is definitely worth adding to your collection!
The brick-build book cover of the Hogwarts Moments LEGO collection is quite enjoyable to assemble and display. For those of you who have decided to get the set, one thing is for sure - the book covers go great together as display items.

This LEGO Harry Potter depicts the scene in the Ministry of Magic from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows when Harry, Ron, and Hermione visit the Ministry to search for Slytherin’s locket - one of Voldemort’s horcruxes. The three of them have used Polyjuice potion to transform themselves into three Ministry employees so they wouldn’t be recognized. What an adventure that was!

- More than 1,000 LEGO bricks and pieces

There are so many buildings in the Harry Potter universe. There’s the Hogwarts castle, the Burrow, Hogsmeade village... And of course - number 12 Grimmauld Place in London, the house of the Black family and later - the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
What’s so great about this house anyway? Well, Sirius grew up in it and it’s magically hidden from the muggle world in a very creative way.
This LEGO Harry Potter captures the beauty of one of the iconic locations in magical London. The set transforms in front of you and reveals the hidden number 12 Grimmauld Place and includes a myriad of LEGO minifigures like Kingsley Shacklebolt, Nymphadora Tonks, the Weasley twins, and Kreacher - the house elf. So, if you’re looking for a really amazing gift for Harry Potter fans of all ages - this new LEGO Harry Potter is just what you need!
LEGO Polyjuice Potion Mistake
Best small set
- NEW set (20th anniversary edition)

- Under 300 pieces
Now this is a treat that’s hard to beat! This small LEGO set would make a perfect addition to Hogwarts Chamber of Secrets (another new LEGO set) but it’s also a superb choice as a standalone piece.
The Polyjuice Potion Mistake depicts the scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione drink the Polyjuice potion and while Harry and Ron turn into Crabbe and Goyle, Hermione’s potion doesn’t quite get the result she was hoping for. The little mishap happens in the girl’s lavatory haunted by Moaning Myrtle and which turns out to be a crucial spot for those who seek the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
This is one of the new Harry Potter LEGO sets and it contains a rare golden minifigure of Harry Potter. If you are a fan and money is no object - you can collect all the anniversary sets and get all of the golden minifigures together as a set. Sigh!
LEGO Hogwarts Moment: Transfiguration Class
Best portable set
- Affordable - under $30
- Portable LEGO set
- Collectable (part of a set) but also great as a standalone set
- Not suitable for witches or wizards under 8 years of age
The Transfiguration class LEGO set boasts the colors of our beloved Gryffindor House - red and gold. The set includes stern-looking Professor McGonagall as well as Ron and Hermione in school uniforms. The overall impression of the Transfiguration classroom is somewhat more dry than the Herbology class we already reviewed but every Gryffindor would certainly find it a cool collectable set.
It’s an awesome LEGO set for children above the age of 8. They can pack it during a road trip and play with it in the car/plane. One of the great things about this Harry Potter LEGO is that you can collect all the four sets and unite the bindings of the LEGO books.
LEGO Hogwarts Moment: Charms Class
Best portable set
- Relatively affordable - under $40
- Portable LEGO set
- Collectable (part of a set) but can be bought separately
- Not suitable for witches or wizards under 8 years of age
The Charms class LEGO set boasts the colors of Ravenclaw House - blue and bronze. The binding of those Hogwarts Moments LEGOs are one of the reasons they are a cool collectable item for everyone who has been sorted into the Hogwarts House in question. You can collect the set of four and unite the binding for better visual effect.
Now, we added this set to the Order of the Phoenix because of the Cho Chang minifigure inside but since she is from Ravenclaw this only makes sense. The Charms classroom includes bookshelves and a fireplace, the Ravenclaw banner, and various furniture.
LEGO Hogwarts Moment: Potions Class
Best portable set
- Affordable - under $30
- Portable LEGO set
- Collectable (part of a set) but also great as a standalone set
- Not suitable for witches or wizards under 8 years of age
The Potions class LEGO set boasts the colors of the notorious Slytherin House - green and silver. It’s one of the new LEGO Harry Potter sets on the market, though not the newest. It’s a part of the four collectable Hogwarts classroom LEGO sets and it’s relatively easy to assemble because it has less than 300 LEGO parts.
The set includes 3 minifigures - Professor Snape, Seamus Finnigan, and Draco Malfoy. Around the LEGO classroom you can see many tiny vials of potions, a white board, and a table with a sofa. It’s actually a very cozy representation of the infamous potions classes from the books and movies - a perfect gift for anyone who’s been sorted into Slytherin House.
LEGO Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter
Best representation of a movie scene
- NEW set (20th anniversary edition)
- LEGO Fluffy included - the three-headed dog
- Includes a rare minifigure
- Perfect addition to the Hogwarts Castle
- Relatively affordable - under $50
- Small set
Harry, Ron, and Hermione met Fluffy the three-headed pet dog of Hagrid’s right before they faced the tasks at the end of Sorcerer’s Stone. This set includes an awesome LEGO Fluffy with 3 moveable heads who would make a perfect companion of the Hungarian Horntail (scroll down to see the set).
This 20th anniversary edition Hogwarts LEGO set is one of the most accurate representations of Harry Potter movie scenes on our list - have a closer look at the box and examine the trap door, the Devil’s Snare, and the harp. The scene is familiar to all Harry Potter fans and would be perfect for a play date with buddies. The set is feature-rich regardless of the relatively small sizes of the elements - it contains the golden trio (Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s LEGO minifigures) as well as a magical creature and a piece of the LEGO Hogwarts Castle. What’s not to love!
LEGO Hogsmeade Village Visit
Best atmosphere
- NEW set (20th anniversary edition)
- Unique Hogsmeade LEGO set
- Includes a rare minifigure as well as 6 other minifigures
- Includes the rare minifigures of Madame Rosmerta and Mr. and Mrs. Flume
- Over $100
A great injustice was done to Harry in Prisoner of Azkaban when uncle Vernon failed to sign his permission form to visit Hogsmeade village while at Hogwarts. Of course, with a serial killer on the loose Harry was not permitted by anyone else. And he went anyway which came as no surprise to anyone (breaking several Hogwarts rules at the same time).
This LEGO set of snow-covered Hogsmeade village is a beautiful representation of his illegal visit to the magical village - it includes a total of 7 minifigures which is twice the amount of most other Harry Potter LEGO sets we reviewed on this list.
This set is our pick for the best LEGO Harry Potter set of 2022. It’s a new addition to the LEGO HP family and many fans and collectors can’t wait to see it next to their Harry Potter merch. Have a great time at Christmas Hogsmeade everyone! (I hear you need to make a reservation at the Three Broomsticks so send your owl in advance. 🦉)
LEGO Hogwarts Wizard’s Chess
Best playable set
- NEW set (20th anniversary edition)
- Unique design
- Suitable for chess player enthusiasts (& HP fans of course)
- Includes a rare minifigure
- Pricey
We have wished for a way to play Harry Potter Wizard’s chess since the first Harry Potter book came out in 1997. And now, more than 20 years later, thanks to LEGO - we can! They came up with a real chess board with buildable LEGO chess pieces so Harry Potter fans can enjoy a magical game of chess with their favorite Harry Potter characters.
The set includes the classic chess board 32 pieces which players need to assemble first. The LEGO minifigures of the golden trio are not in their Hogwarts uniforms but in casual clothes. The set also includes a one-of-a-kind Professor Snape golden 20th anniversary edition LEGO minifigure.
LEGO Hogwarts Moment: Herbology Class
Best portable set
- Affordable - under $30
- Portable LEGO set
- Collectable (part of a set) but also great as a standalone set
- Not suitable for witches or wizards under 8 years of age
Channel your inner Hufflepuff with this fantastic LEGO set. The Herbology class LEGO set boasts the colors of Hufflepuff House - yellow and black. Hufflepuffs are known for embracing nature and keeping an open mind! This portable LEGO set is all about the favorite activity of every self-respected member of Hufflepuff House - caring for magical plants, a.k.a. Herbology.
Inside the book cover you’ll find Cedric Diggory and Neville Longbottom working alongside Professor Pomona Sprout in one of the Herbology greenhouses at Hogwarts. (As you may know, Herbology was Neville’s favorite class and regardless of the fact that he is indeed a Gryffindor - the Herbology classroom is one of the best places to find good-natured Neville.)
We included this particular Hogwarts Moment on the 10 best Harry Potter LEGO sets of 2021 because it incorporates more exciting elements - a rare minifigure of our beloved Professor Sprout, the tragically famous Cedric Diggory in working uniform (looking dashing as usual), and poor baby Neville Longbottom running with scissors. The set also includes pumpkin LEGOs (LEGO pumpkins?) and various other magical plants - the general atmosphere is of a cosy classroom with lots of lamps and greenery. Awesome!
LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar
Best pre-Christmas gift
- NEW set 2021
- Awesome surprises for every day until Christmas Eve
- Buildable LEGO in every window

- Expensive for an advent calendar

The set contains 24 LEGO toys to build and collect and a board game to play with all of them once you’ve opened all 24 boxes. Young witches and wizards would simply LOVE this gift.
The set recreates Harry’s journey to Hogwarts in book/movie 1. There’s Chocolate Frogs and Hogwarts letters, platform 9 ¾, a sign that reads “The Leaky Cauldron”, Hagrid’s birthday cake for Harry, and many more. Collectors can add those little items to other Harry Potter LEGO sets and improve their experience any time.
LEGO Hogwarts Courtyard: Sirius’s Rescue
Best for fans of Prisoner of Azkaban
- New LEGO set summer 2022
- Buckbeak LEGO figure included
- Sirius Black LEGO minifigure in prisoner clothes included
- Goes great with LEGO Hogwarts Astronomy Tower
- Great for role-play
- Less than 500 LEGO pieces
What an amazing addition to a Harry Potter LEGO collection that one is! Especially, if you’re a fan of Sirius Black and Prisoner of Azkaban as so many people are. The LEGO Hogwarts Courtyard: Sirius’s Rescue includes three LEGO minifigures (Harry, Hermione, and Sirius Black) as well as a LEGO figurine of Buckbeak the Hippogriff with moveable wings, a prison cell located high in a Hogwarts tower, and two collectible wizard cards.
This LEGO Harry Potter set illustrates a beautiful scene from the Harry Potter series - the memorable escape of Sirius Black and Buckbeak the Hippogriff from certain death at the end of the third part of the series. Harry and Hermione did their best and “two innocent lives were spared” in one night thanks to a time turner and a little encouragement from Dumbledore as usual. Harry gained a godfather and Buckbeak survived the consequences of the wrong accusations against him.
Go on a magical adventure with Harry, Hermione, Sirius, and Buckbeak with this gorgeous new Harry Potter LEGO set 2022!
Best Harry Potter LEGO sets
Here come all the best Harry Potter LEGO sets from previous years that are still available online. The sets we included feature scenes from the first six movies. If you want to check which Harry Potter LEGO set is from which book/movies - scroll down to our FAQ section. Here we go:
LEGO Harry Potter Clock Tower
Best iconic Hogwarts location
- Almost 1,000 pieces
- Includes Dumbledore’s office with the Pensieve
- 8 minifigures (in formal robes)
- Including a rare Viktor Krum minifigure
- Goes great with Hogwarts Castle and Hogwarts Astronomy Tower
- Expensive
Have you always wanted to attend the Yule Ball at Hogwarts? Well thanks to LEGO, now you can. The LEGO Harry Potter Clock Tower is one of the best sets on our list, with the most minifigures (including several rare ones, e.g. Viktor Krum - the famous Bulgarian seeker), and it’s one of the largest Harry Potter-themed LEGO sets.
One of the great things about this set is that all the minifigures are in formal robes - there are the four Triwizard Tournament champions as well as Ron and Hermione, and the teachers Madame Maxime and Professor Dumbledore. Those would make an awesome addition to your collection!
Regarding the building - the set includes a moving dancing area, a beautiful clock on the iconic Astronomy Tower, Dumbledore’s office with the trustee Pensieve next to his desk, and the Prefect’s bathroom with the mermaid on the window. It’s a beautifully designed set which allows you to immerse yourself in the magical Yule Ball and dance with the champions.
LEGO Attack on The Burrow
Best Harry Potter LEGO house
- Beautifully designed
- Over 1,000 pieces
- Includes the Weasleys’ kitchen on the insight
- Includes the rare minifigures of Ginny Weasley and Belatrix Lestrange
- Over $100
When the Death Eaters destroyed the Burrow we all hated them even more (if that was possible). The Weasley family practically adopted Harry from the very beginning and the Burrow, although being far from sophisticated, represented everything Harry didn’t have as a child - a large loud loving family. So yes, when the Burrow was destroyed something died in all of us.
This beautiful LEGO house is one of the best Harry Potter LEGOs 2021. It’s not a new set, but it’s definitely a must-have, especially if you’re a collector and a Gryffindore. It’s beautifully designed and brings back emotional memories.
This is the set with most Weasley family members included as minifigures - there’s Arthur and Molly Weasly, Ron and Ginny. The house is GREAT for role-playing and play dates!
LEGO Hogwarts Castle
Ultimate Harry Potter LEGO castle
- Over 6,000 pieces
- Famous Harry Potter LEGO
- Collectors can add other LEGO parts of the castle
- The largest Harry Potter LEGO set on the market
- Includes the rare minifigures of the 4 founders of Hogwarts
- Perfect for play dates
- Expensive
- Hard to find LEGO set
- Players over 16+ only
Arguably the most famous and exciting Harry Potter LEGO set is the LEGO Hogwarts Castle. Most HP fans who can afford the set have already made the desirable purchase and have certainly spent many pleasurable hours assembling it, adding other LEGO sets to it, admiring its grandeur and posting photos of it on social media.
(Did you know that the Hogwarts Castle LEGO was actually the third biggest LEGO set on the market? Yes, the biggest one is the LEGO Colosseum with 9,036 pieces and the second biggest is LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon with 7,541 pieces. This makes Hogwarts the largest LEGO castle by far.)
The Hogwarts Castle has become a powerful symbol in the Harry Potter community worldwide and fans of all ages recommend the set as the ONE must-have among them all. And of course, this is the best LEGO castle of the Harry Potter LEGO themed series!
The LEGO Harry Potter Castle is the one of the biggest LEGO sets out there with more than 6,000 LEGO parts. Have in mind that this LEGO set is not appropriate for witches and wizards under 16 years of age. Also be aware that you get some special LEGO minifigures with it - this is the only set that offers the four Hogwarts founders minifigures which are super important for every Harry Potter LEGO collector.
Of course, you can always buy LEGO pieces or other LEGO sets in order to personalize your set. For example, there is a small-scale Hungarian Horntail dragon included in that set. If you want to upgrade to something more extravagant - click on the link for LEGO Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge. There is also a small-scale Chamber of Secrets included in the Castle. If you’re a fan of the second book - scroll down to discover the best LEGO from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2021.
LEGO Hogwarts Great Hall
Best value
- Large number of LEGO Harry Potter characters
- Includes the Mirror of Erised and House banners
- Rare LEGO minifigures of Nearly Headless Nick and Professor Quirrell
- Perfect addition to the Hogwarts Castle
- Expensive
This LEGO Harry Potter set combines several scenes from the Harry Potter movies together. The Hogwarts Great Hall has seen much action during the series and here we can see a LEGO Nearly Headless Nick minifigure as well as Professor Quirrell and the Mirror of Erised from book/movie 1 and the Basilisk from book/movie 2. The set also includes Professor Dumbledore’s office with a moveable staircase, the Sorting Hat, and the famous Wingardium LeviOsa scene with Ron and Hermione.
This is one of the LEGO sets with most LEGO Harry Potter minifigures included so don’t be alarmed by its price - this is one of the best LEGO sets in terms of value. It’s an amazing standalone set and it works great in addition to other sets on our list (e.g. LEGO Hogwarts Castle and LEGO Hogwarts: Fluffy Encounter).
LEGO Hogwarts Astronomy Tower
Best Hogwarts Tower
- Includes 8 minifigures
- Includes the rare minifigures of Professor Slughorn and Lavender Brown
- Almost 1,000 pieces
- Goes great with LEGO Hogwarts Great Hall
- Over $100
The Hogwarts Astronomy Tower might offer some awesome views of the grounds but it also wears the stigma of being the place where Dumbledore was killed. Nevertheless, this LEGO set represents the Slug Club Christmas Party organized by Professor Slughorn for his outstanding students. Harry brings lovely Luna Lovegood as his date, Neville serves the drinks, Ron and Lavender are having a date at another part of the castle, and Draco Malfoy is crashing the party.
Now, the Half-Blood Prince offers some pretty amazing moments in terms of atmosphere and coziness and the Slug Party is one of the rare occasions of peace and quiet before the action begins and well, we all know about the unfortunate events that take place at the end of the book. This LEGO set celebrates the last moment in the series to be immortalized by LEGO.
For some reason, there are no LEGO sets with scenes from the Deathly Hallows but we’ll keep waiting for the LEGO Group to come up with something new yet again. A great idea would be to have a LEGO Ministry of Magic or a LEGO version of the magical tent the golden trio spent so much time in (that could be a cool affordable LEGO with a tent and a few trees, sigh!). Or a LEGO Gringotts (imagine that roller coaster and the vaults and the white dragon!), or LEGO Azkaban… OK, that’s disturbing.a
LEGO Hogwarts Express
Best LEGO train
- Famous Harry Potter LEGO
- Includes a dementor minifigure
- Awesome platform design
- Moveable barrier for platform 9 ¾
- No tracks included
- Only one passenger carriage
Now, the LEGO Hogwarts Express is one of the most popular LEGO sets on the market. Every school year at Hogwarts starts and finishes with a scene at the Hogwarts Express and they all happen to be very emotional. Especially going back to the Dursleys for the summer - after the end of each Hogwarts adventure there are many things to conclude and this always happens on the train back home.
This LEGO set features the beginning of Harry’s third year at Hogwarts with the unexpected visit of a dementor of Azkaban aboard on the Hogwarts Express. The set includes an awesome platform 9 ¾ of the King’s Cross station which is one of the best symbols of the Wizarding World. A must-have item!
LEGO Knight Bus
Best LEGO Harry Potter vehicle
- Buildable LEGO bus
- Perfect for kids who like playing with cars/trucks/carriages
- Removable upper floor
- Plain design
There are many means of transportation in the Harry Potter series - flom flying broomsticks to the Hogwarts Express, floo powder, apparition, flying carriages, thestrals, hippogriphs, ships that go underwater… and we get to one of the most beloved one - the Knight Bus. It saves Harry from what he perceives to be a really dangerous black dog but was actually Sirius in his animagus form (no, that wasn’t a spoiler!).
The LEGO Knight Bus includes a rare Stan Shunpike figure (“What you fell over for?”) and a minifigure of the hilarious Ernie Prang - the driver with poor eyesight. And of course, there’s LEGO Harry who can go anywhere on the bus he likes. This set would go great with the LEGO Beauxbatons’ Carriage and/or the LEGO Hogwarts Express (scroll down) - all of them extraordinary and super cool to play with. (Also, don’t forget the flying Ford Anglia - scroll up.)
LEGO Beauxbatons’ Carriage: Arrival at Hogwarts
Best magical transportation design
- Beautifully designed
- Relatively affordable - less than $60
- Includes minifigures from the Beauxbatons students and Madame Maxime
- Goes great with Hogwarts Clock Tower LEGO (scroll down)
- Goes great with the Knight Bus (scroll up)
- Might be more difficult to construct
One of the most memorable moments at the very beginning of Harry’s fourth year at Hogwarts was the arrival of the two guest schools of magic - Beauxbatons and Durmstrang. The scene in the movies is an emotional moment whenever we rewatch it and Hagrid welcoming the Beauxbaton carriage is just spectacular.
This set will surely transport you to the grounds of Hogwarts waiting for the Triwizard Tournament to start. The Beauxbatons’ carriage is one of the best Harry Potter LEGO means of magical transportation (after the LEGO Knight Bus of course which is awesome!).
LEGO Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue
Best design
- Beautifully designed
- Includes a moveable Buckbeak figurine
- Includes a battery-powered light brick for the fireplace
- Includes rare minifigures Minister of Magic and Executioner
- Perfect for play dates
- Relatively expensive
- Battery not included
Who wouldn’t like to sip a giant cup of tea at Hagrid’s Hut? This LEGO set focuses on the day of Buckbeak’s execution which thankfully never actually took place. Hagrid is meeting the Minister of Magic, the Executioner and Dumbledore while Harry, Ron, Hermione and Scabbers exit from the back door. The LEGO figurine of Buckbeak among Hagrid’s giant pumpkins is just adorable!
This is a beautiful take on one of our top locations around Hogwarts - Hagrid’s Hut. The set is perfect for a play date and in addition to the LEGO Hogwarts Castle. ( FYI, there is a smaller scale Hagrid Hut at the LEGO Hogwarts Castle set.)
LEGO Brickheadz Hagrid & Buckbeak
Best unconventional design
- Affordable - under $20
- Adorable/unconventional/unique design
- Collectable
- No minifigures
Hagrid is the first wizard that Harry (and we as readers/viewers) meets in the very beginning of book/movie 1. And he is without a doubt one of the most beloved characters in all the series. Why? He is Dumbledore’s trustee man and whatever happens Hagrid is extremely loyal to him and to Harry for that matter. He is a good saul with a soft spot for giant magical creatures and we all just fell in love with Hagrid at the end of Philosopher's Stone when he gave Harry the scrapbook with all the pictures of his deceased parents (here come the waterfalls). So yes, he is one of the all-time positive-only favorites of all fans.
In this LEGO set, which looks a bit unconventional but it’s all the more worth entering your collection, Hagrid appears with a cute lantern alongside Buckbeak. The LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz collection includes several other sets like Harry and Hedwig, Dumbledore and Ron, Hagrid and the golden trio, and Grindelwald and Newt.
LEGO Expecto Patronum
Best depiction of an emotional scene
- Includes a beautiful LEGO patronus figurine - Harry’s stag
- Includes 2 dementor LEGO minifigures and a rare minifigure of Sirius Black
- Goes great with Hagrid’s Hut: Buckbeak Rescue (scroll up)
- Under 200 pieces
- Small set
The ending of Prisoner of Azkaban is a wild ride - going back in time, saving Sirius and Buckbeak, not getting expelled after attacking a teacher. (Poor Professor Snape got everything wrong again). But the most emotional moment of all was without a doubt when Harry managed to produce an animal-shaped Patronus guardian. (Even at his Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L. exam, the teacher asks him to produce his Patronus which leads to Harry getting the Outstanding grade.)
In this set we can see the lake surrounded by dementors (2 dementor minifigures included), Sirius Black being close to death, and Harry who went back in time producing his first (out of many) Patronus charm. The scene reveals that his Patronus is a stag, the same as his father’s thus emphasizing the connection between father and son. To be honest, the stag looks pretty cool in this LEGO set - a must-have!
LEGO Quidditch Match
Best playable LEGO Harry Potter set
- Affordable - under $30
- Minifigures in quidditch uniforms (!)
- Best LEGO Harry Potter 5-7 years
- Perfect for play dates
- Only one goal included
- No stadium structure
This LEGO Harry Potter set would make an awesome gift for witches and wizards who are into magical sports. Harry gets into quidditch early in Book 1 and it’s always been an important part of the series. One of the few faults in this LEGO set is that while it includes all the four towers of the Hogwarts Quidditch Stadium, there is only one set of hoops (goal) included. So, if you want to have the matching set you’ll have to either purchase the set twice or collect the hoops separately.
The set contains all quidditch balls and bats - the golden snitch being of course the shiniest of them all. The LEGO Quidditch stadium is one of the most beloved Harry Potter-themed LEGO sets because it’s also one of the most playable - it’s perfect for recreating quidditch games with friends and the more LEGO minifigures of Harry Potter characters you have - the more fun it would be!
LEGO 4 Privet Drive
Best versatile play set
- Includes a blue flying Ford Anglia LEGO car
- Includes the rare minifigures of the Dursleys and Dobby (!)
- Perfect for play dates
- The minifigures of the Weasley twins are not included
- Expensive
This is the only LEGO set which takes the Dursley family under the spotlight - it’s a wonderful representation of the scene where the twins and Ron rescue Harry from the Dursleys in the beginning of book/movie 2 (however, the set only includes Ron rescuing Harry for some reason). Many fans would be happy to own a Dobby LEGO minifigure as well as the rare minifigures of Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia, and Dudley.
There are many hidden surprises to discover in this set - the cupboard under the staircase where Harry used to sleep, a little hole in the wall from where you can slip Hogwarts letters inside the house, the awesome interior of the Dursley’s living room and Harry’s bedroom.
One of the best things about this set is that it includes the LEGO Ford Anglia which the twins and Ron use to come and get Harry and take him to the Burrow in the beginning of Chamber of Secrets. Have in mind that there is another LEGO set containing Arthur Weasley’s flying Ford Anglia (scroll down).
LEGO Hogwarts Whomping Willow
Best set with moving parts
- Includes a blue Ford Anglia LEGO car
- Moveable Whomping Willow tree
- 6 minifigures in total + a Hedwig minifigure
- Rare minifigure of Argus Filch
- Perfect addition to the Hogwarts Great Hall
- Pricey
This set features a small part of the Harry Potter LEGO castle wall with several little chambers at the back. But the buildable Whomping Willow tree is definitely the big accent of this LEGO set. The Ford Anglia goes on top of it - if you move the branches first you can move the whole tree with the flying car as much as you want. The car’s trunk opens so you can put Ron and Harry’s suitcases out for their next year at Hogwarts. The set includes cauldrons for the potions class, a daily Prophet newspaper, and Filch's lantern.
If you’re looking for a bigger LEGO Harry Potter adventure - you can combine this set with the Hogwarts Great Hall LEGO set and enjoy the more features together. (FYI, there is a smaller scale Whomping Willow at the LEGO Hogwarts Castle set but this one is the real deal!)
LEGO Hedwig
Best movable set
- Moving wings
- Challenging build-and-display model
- Rewarding building experience
- Affordable - under $40
- Goes great with LEGO Fawkes: Dumbledore’s Phoenix
- Only 2 minifigures
It all started with a letter… One of the most exciting scenes in the first installment of the Harry Potter book series was an owl bringing the Hogwarts letter (well, MANY letters to be exact) to the young wizard, Harry Potter. Many children all over the world started dreaming of receiving their letter on their 11th birthday and this LEGO Hedwig carrying a Hogwarts letter could make the perfect gift for a young witch or wizard.
Hedwig, the snowy owl, was a gift from Rubeus Hagrid for Harry’s 11th birthday which he gave him on Harry’s first visit to Diagon Alley. Hedwig is Harry’s pet animal through his years at Hogwarts and delivers mail and birthday gifts for him during summer breaks at 4 Privet Drive (click on the link to see the awesome LEGO 4 Privet Drive with LEGO minifigures of the Dursley family members).
This Harry Potter LEGO set is a bit unconventional in terms of structure - the owl’s wings are moveable and reviews say it might be a bit challenging to assemble. This detailed model of Hedwig who makes a very special delivery is endearing and exciting at the same time. The magnificent owl makes an awesome addition to any Harry Potter LEGO collection.
LEGO Fawkes: Dumbledore’s Phoenix
Best for Fantastic Beasts fans
- Moving wings
- Challenging build-and-display model
- Rewarding building experience
- Goes great with LEGO Hedwig
- Great present for a fan of Fantastic Beasts
- Only 2 minifigures
Fawkes the phoenix is Dumbledore’s pet bird and for those of you who are fans of the Fantastic Beasts series this phoenix means way more than that. Fawkes plays an important role at the very end of the terrifying scene down in the Chamber of Secrets. He is the one that saves Harry, Ron, and Ginny (and Professor Lockhart as well, yes) out of the Chamber and flies them to the surface.
According to what we know about phoenixes, they can carry extremely heavy loads and their tears can cure even a basilisk bite. Newt Scamander has included it in the list of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them because of their magical abilities.
The buildable LEGO phoenix Fawkes includes two minifigures - one of Albus Dumbledore of course and a minifigure of Fawkes. The large Fawkes is a magnificent collectable item as a part of a larger collection (e.g. LEGO Hedwig) or as a standalone item.
LEGO Hungarian Horntail Triwizard Challenge
Best set featuring a magical creature
- Includes all 4 Triwizard Tournament champions minifigures
- Includes a cool Hungarian Horntail dragon figurine
- Goes great with the LEGO Hogwarts Clock Tower
- Under 300 pieces
This is a really small LEGO set with a huge magical creature - it features the dragon Harry fought in the first Triwizard Tournament task, the Hungarian Horntail. The set is affordable and is one of the best playable Harry Potter sets out there.
Now, the set might be small but it offers many awesome features. For example, if you don’t have the four Triwizard Tournament champions minifigures this is your chance of getting the whole set.
We can see Harry holding the golden egg which is the clue for his second task and the chain which holds the dragon to the ground can be removed while he escapes. Awesome! The set also includes a small tent for the champions which can go great in addition to any LEGO Hogwarts.
LEGO The Rise of Voldemort
Best set featuring Voldemort
- Accurate depiction of the scene
- Includes Triwizard Tournament LEGO Cup
- Moveable parts
- Might be considered a bit too graphical
- Under 200 pieces
This is one of the most horrifying scenes in all the books and movies - Cedric Diggory dies tragically after he and Harry decide to share the victory and win the Triwizard Tournament together. The Goblet of Fire teleports them together to the cemetery where Harry has to become a victim of Voldemort once again.
This set has more of a collector’s kind of value - there is an unknown Death Eater’s minifigure, and of course Voldemort, Harry in Triwizard Tournament uniform, and the pathetic excuse of a wizard - Pitter Pettigrew. Besides Tom Riddle’s grave there is one tombstone with the sign of the Deathly Hallow on it and a wonderful LEGO Triwizard Tournament cup included.
LEGO Forbidden Forest: Umbridge’s Encounter
Best set including a giant creature
- Affordable - under $30
- Beautifully designed
- Awesome tree with a storage place inside
- Includes a rare Professor Umbradge minifigure
- Includes 2 awesome centaur minifigures
- Cool giant LEGO Grawp
- Under 300 pieces
- No buildings
One of the TOP most satisfying scenes in the Order of the Phoenix (a.k.a. Umbridge’s Reign of Terror at Hogwarts) is the moment when Professor Umbridge is attacked by the centaurs at the Forbidden Forest. (“Sorry, Professor. I must not tell lies.”) Justice has been done for Umbridge at last and there is no HP fan who doesn’t LOVE that scene. And thanks to LEGO we can add that scene to our personal Harry Potter LEGO collection and admire it as much as we can.
The set includes a large buildable LEGO Grawp (Hagrid’s half-brother giant) who lives in the Forest and he is awesome! There are also 2 cool LEGO minifigures of centaurs, Professor Dolores Umbridge in her pink robes, and Harry and Hermione in casual clothes.
One of the cool surprises of the set is that the LEGO tree can be opened and there is a little storage space in there (you can keep various LEGO pieces inside - e.g. Hermione’s lantern, wands, etc.)
